I am writing to provide additional information about the upcoming railroad closure scheduled for Monday, August 11. Mr. Carruth's letter was sent last night, but in case you missed it, I have attached it here as well.
Critical Changes for Monday, August 11: Email from Mr. Carruth, Superintendent
Due to the railroad closure, Acacia has been designated a "Significantly Impacted School." This means a few changes will be in place for Monday.
Key Changes for Monday, August 11:
No After-School Activities: There will be no after-school clubs or tutoring. We are canceling these activities to ensure all students and families can get home safely and in a timely manner.
Bus Routes: Please be aware that bus routes may be delayed. For real-time updates on your child's bus, please use the Spot My Bus app. If you have additional questions, contact the transportation office at 520-879-2475.
Attendance and Tardies: If your student is absent because of the railroad closure, please call our front office at 520-879-2203. All tardies and absences related to the closure will be excused.
Morning Drop-off: To help with traffic, we will open the front gates at 7:00 a.m. on Monday. Students who arrive between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. will be supervised by staff in the library or MPR. Our normal schedule will resume at 7:30 a.m.
Community programs: Before and Aftercare will operate as usual.
After-School Dismissal
Bus Riders: Bus riders will be walked to their buses at the normal dismissal time, but their ride home may be delayed by the closure.
Parent Pick-up: We anticipate the parking lot may be congested. Please be patient as we work to safely get students into your vehicles. If you are delayed in picking up your child, they will be supervised in the front office until you arrive.
