Senita Valley Awarded National Blue Ribbon

Senita Valley Elementary School, located in the Vail Unified School District, has received a National Blue Ribbon Award, recognizing its academic performance and outstanding culture.

Senita Valley is one of only 353 schools in the country to receive this prestigious recognition.

National Blue Ribbon schools model excellence, high standards, and innovation in the classrooms. They are schools where families, communities, and educators partner in education. The only way to become a National Blue Ribbon school is to be nominated by the State Board of Education and are then judged based on their data, activities, programs, and more.

When Senita Valley parent and site council member, Rob Davis, heard the news he said, “I’m not surprised at all. Senita Valley drew our family in with their high commitment to excellence and inclusive and community-oriented environment. This award just confirms and validates what our experience has been.”

Senita Valley opened in 2008 and in those 15 years, the school has received three A+ School of Excellence awards, an ASBA Golden Bell Award, is currently the top rated elementary school in Southern Arizona, and the #4 ranked elementary school in the state.

“This Blue Ribbon Award is affirmation of the excellence of Senita Valley Elementary School as a lighthouse school that maximizes student and community engagement, superb academic achievement, and a culture of collaboration,” says Senita Valley Principal Chris Wittoesch. “It is truly a family. Each staff member is committed to helping each child to grow and develop as individuals in all of the areas of their lives. Senita Valley is a special place where young people, staff, and our community are thriving!”
