Vail Early College students started their semester last week after wrapping up College Success Boot Camp. The Vail Early College is an extension of the Vail School District’s high school choice philosophy and is founded on the belief that some upperclass students are ready for rigorous college coursework while still in high school. The program provides an opportunity for students to spend their senior year taking courses on the Pima Community College East Campus and get a jump start on college with guided support. Students earn an average of 27 college credits by they time they graduate from high school!

This cohort of 76 students from across the district is filled with excitement about beginning college life on Pima’s East Campus. This year, a record breaking NINE students are expected to graduate with their associate’s degrees… many of whom will actually earn the degree a few days BEFORE they walk across the graduation stage to earn their high school diplomas!
